PREREQUISITES

After reviewing the prerequisites and application process you may submit any application-related questions to info@midwiferyschool.org. You can expect a 1-2 week reply time to application inquiries. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

REQUIRED

  • 18 years or older

  • High school diploma or equivalent

    • If you were homeschooled for high school, please send a notarized diploma or signed transcripts. If you have any issues with this, contact info@midwiferyschool.org to learn about other options.

  • Copies of Official Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended (mailed from the institution to FSTM, 810 E. University Ave., Gainesville, FL 32601 or emailed from the institution to info@midwiferyschool.org)

  • Copy of resume or curriculum vitae

  • Completion of college-level Math course (3 credits) or passing score of 50 on the CLEP exam *Note: preparatory or remedial courses will not be accepted

  • Completion of college-level English course (3 credits) or passing score of 50 on the CLEP exam *Note: preparatory or remedial courses will not be accepted

  • Completion of college-level Medical Terminology course

    • For students looking for an in-person option your local community college is typically a good place to start. If you are interested in an online course, we recommend Straighterline.

  • Certification in “Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers” through an AHA or Red Cross approved, in-person course.

 

Optional

  • Prospective students new to birth work may choose to completion a doula training course as a way to gain exposure to birth work and natural childbirth. Doula training is not prioritized in our application process.
